Tento majest\u00e1tn\u00ed medv\u011bd, vyzna\u010duj\u00edc\u00ed se charakteristick\u00fdm \u010dernob\u00edl\u00fdm ko\u017eichem a bambusovou dietou, je v\u0161eobecn\u011b vn\u00edm\u00e1n jako jeden celek. Av\u0161ak pod povrchem tohoto n\u00e1rodn\u00edho pokladu se skr\u00fdvaj\u00ed fascinuj\u00edc\u00ed genetick\u00e9 a morfologick\u00e9 rozd\u00edly, kter\u00e9 odhaluj\u00ed existenci dvou odli\u0161n\u00fdch poddruh\u016f. V\u011bt\u0161ina populace se koncentruje v provincii S\u2019-\u010dchuan, ale men\u0161\u00ed skupiny se nach\u00e1zej\u00ed tak\u00e9 v provinci\u00edch Kan-su (Gansu) a \u0160en-si (Shaanxi). Jejich habitaty se vyzna\u010duj\u00ed nadmo\u0159skou v\u00fd\u0161kou mezi 1200 a 3400 metry, hust\u00fdmi bambusov\u00fdmi lesy (p\u0159ev\u00e1\u017en\u011b bambusy rodu Fargesia, Bashania a Sinarundinaria) a vlhk\u00fdm, m\u00edrn\u00fdm podneb\u00edm. Rozsah jejich are\u00e1lu je v\u011bt\u0161\u00ed a fragmentovan\u00fd.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u010cchinlingsk\u00e1 panda (A. m. qinlingensis):<\/strong><br \/>\nTento poddruh je endemick\u00fd pro \u00fazkou oblast poho\u0159\u00ed \u010cchin-ling (Qinling) v provincii \u0160en-si. Poho\u0159\u00ed \u010cchin-ling funguje jako p\u0159irozen\u00e1 bari\u00e9ra mezi severn\u00ed a ji\u017en\u00ed \u010c\u00ednou a izoluje tuto populaci od ostatn\u00edch pand. Jejich habitat se nach\u00e1z\u00ed v nadmo\u0159sk\u00fdch v\u00fd\u0161k\u00e1ch mezi 1300 a 3000 metry, \u010dasto ve strm\u00fdch, nep\u0159\u00edstupn\u00fdch rokl\u00edch s bohatou vegetac\u00ed. Tato oblast je charakteristick\u00e1 specifick\u00fdmi druhy bambusu, jako je nap\u0159\u00edklad Fargesia qinlingensis.
