How Is Raw Silk Fabric Made
Silk containing sericin is called raw silk. Extracting raw silk starts by raising the silkworms. Once the silkworm completes cocoon, place cocoon in boiling water to get individual longer fibers and then fed into the spinning reel. The sericin is usually retained until the yarn or fabric stage, for it affords protection during processing. Then, the gummy substance is removed by boiling the silk in soap and water, leaving it soft and lustrous.
