Moth produces several eggs, and each of them becomes a silkworm larva. Feed the silkworms with mulberry leaves. Then, silkworms produce cocoon of silk thread around itself. To harvest silk, you should place cocoon in either boiling water, or blasted with steam or hot air to kill the pupae and soften the binding agent (sericin). Sometimes, the softened sericin is left on the fibers, and this product is called raw silk.
