First, sort cocoons by color, size, shape and texture. Then, place them in boiled water for 5 minutes. Gently turn the cocoons. Take cocoons out of the boiled water. Pick up the strands by using a dissecting needle. Note: you have to wind the strand around a pencil once a single strand is found that will come off easily. Reel 3 and 10 strands together to produce the desired diameter of raw silk. Pack silk into small bundles, and ship them to silk mills around the world.
