Different people have different sleep positions. But, almost around one in five of us sleep on our front, and it is considered as the worst position for good sleep. If you are a stomach sleeper, you can try and change your sleep position within a right pillow.
If you are a stomach sleeper, you will find that your head gets unnaturally pushed upward by pillow into an awkward angle while sleeping. Your neck and spine are unnaturally twisted out of position because your head is forced one way or another. Ideally, your spine, head and neck should all be perfectly lined up.
Stomach sleeping will increase pressure on certain muscles, wrinkles, indigestion and even saggy breasts. However, stomach sleeping can create a much more stable breathing passage, helping you stop snoring.
What can we do?
- Sleeping on your side or back is the best sleeping position. However, if you get used to other sleep position, it could be very difficult to break the habit.
- Sleeping with no pillow can create a much more neutral position and line up your neck and back. It may help, but you will probably feel a bit strange and uncomfortable.
- Next, choose a low lying pillow to elevate your head as little as possible.
Different types of pillows
1. Cotton Pillow
Pillows with a cotton cover and a hollowfibre (strands of polyester which are tiny fibres a bit like hair) filling allow your head to drop down to a more natural level. And, the hollowfibre filling still provide plenty of support. These pillows are great for stomach sleepers because they are not overly filled. And, cotton cover will keep your head nice and cool since they are naturally breathable. They are non-allergenic.
2. Goose Down Pillow
Down and goose feather, made of the most luxurious pillow fillings, look so fluffed up. Thus, they often look like they might be too high for a stomach sleeper. In fact, they can easily be pushed down to make them more suitable because the filling is quite malleable. These pillows will give you the ultimate comfort. They are a good option for stomach sleepers because the head won’t be pushed backwards. They are mouldable. No matter how much we push and pull the feathers, they will spring back into their original position after using.
3. Silk Filled Pillow
Our mulberry silk filled pillows are hypoallergenic, filled with 100% pure mulberry silk fibers.
Silk filled pillows remain cooler throughout the night, eliminating that middle-of-the-night restlessness. You will feel dry and comfortable throughout the night since silk wicks away perspiration. With silk filled pillows, you can enjoy a comfortable and restful sleep every night.
Silk won’t catch on your hair for it is so smooth. Silk pillows will keep your hair soft, moisturized, and free of pesky tangles. Besides, silk pillows can help reduce the appearance of facial wrinkles.
