How do you measure whether you’ve got high quality silk?
Some people turn to thread count to determine the quality of fabric. Thread count is the thread count woven into one square inch of fabric. And the higher thread count, the higher the quality.
In case you want to know our silk bedding thread count, we list it here
- 19MM sheets: Thread Count 400
- 22MM sheets: Thread Count 600
However, if you want to get the measurement of silky goodness, you had better consider other factors like momme weight, for the thread count with silk is quite different from cotton or linen bedding. The fabric with high thread count is not necessarily what you would want to choose, for silk threads are very fine by nature. Conversely, if you want to get a high quality of silk, you can choose the one with a lower thread count of heavier, stronger & more robust threads.
Momme weight is used to measure silk fabrics quality. The standard for measuring momme weight is by using a piece of fabric that is 100 yards long and 45 inches wide. For instance, our silk is 22 momme. In other words, 100 yards of our silk weighs 22 pounds.
Here at Snowbedding.com, we provide silk sheets with 19, 22 and 25 momme weight.
